Testimony of Support and Advocacy

I am incredibly grateful for the support and advocacy that Ms. Sanders has provided to my son and our family throughout his life. From the time my son was a newborn until today, as he approaches six years old, Ms. Sanders has consistently been in our corner and has played an invaluable role in helping us understand, navigate, and advocate for his needs.

Ms. Sanders was the person who first brought concerns about a possible autism diagnosis to my attention and encouraged me to have my son professionally evaluated. At the time, I did not fully understand what autism could look like or what steps I needed to take to get my child the appropriate support. Because of Ms. Sanders’s guidance and encouragement, I took the necessary steps to pursue an evaluation and ultimately learned that my son has Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Throughout this process, Ms. Sanders did much more than simply encourage me to seek an evaluation. Ms. Sanders supported me every step of the way by providing valuable resources, answering questions, helping me understand my options, and connecting our family with therapy services, medical providers, and schools that specialize in supporting children with autism.

Navigating the systems surrounding an autism diagnosis can be overwhelming for any parent, especially when trying to determine which services, therapies, medical professionals, and educational resources are best suited for your child. Ms. Sanders has consistently helped us navigate those challenges and has made sure that my son has access to the support and services he needs.

Most importantly, Ms. Sanders has remained a constant advocate for my son. Their involvement has not been limited to one point in time or one specific need. They have continued to check in, provide guidance, connect us with resources, and make sure that my son’s needs are recognized and addressed as he grows and develops.

I truly believe that Ms. Sanders has made a significant difference in my son’s life and in our family’s ability to advocate for him. Their support has helped us better understand his diagnosis, access appropriate therapies and medical care, and find educational environments and resources that are equipped to meet his needs.

From the time my son was a newborn to nearly six years old today, Ms. Sanders has consistently stood beside us. They have been an advocate, a resource, and a source of encouragement when we needed it most. I am deeply thankful for everything they have done to ensure that my son receives the support he needs to thrive with his Level 3 autism
diagnosis.

Their dedication, compassion, and continued commitment to my son and our family have made an immeasurable impact, and I will always be grateful for the role they have played in his journey.

“I cannot recommend Jacobs Ladder highly enough! Navigating county services for an autistic child can be incredibly overwhelming, confusing, and stressful. From our very first interaction, Dysheka and the team at Jacobs Ladder took a massive weight off our shoulders.

They walked us through the entire application process step-by-step, ensuring we had all the right paperwork and documentation. Their team is not only deeply knowledgeable about county programs and funding, but they also treat you with genuine empathy, patience, and respect. They answered every single question we had and advocated for our child as if they were their own.

Thanks to their expertise and dedication, our child was approved for the vital services and resources they need to thrive. If you are a parent trying to navigate this complex system, do not hesitate to reach out to them. They are absolute lifesavers!”

I would like to commend Dysheka on the work she did with this family. Ms. Harris always talked about her in a positive way and how she made her feel comfortable during the visit. Dysheka’s notes are wonderful ! Due to her attention to detail I feel confident that nothing will be missed during that time. I was able to ask Ms. Harris and S.H direct questions about the visit with all the information she provided. Thank You for your service Dysheka.

First, let me say that your clients are truly blessed to have you as their parenting coach. You’re clearly dedicated to your work and the betterment of the parents you coach. I can’t imagine how much time you invested compiling and creating all those great materials. You did such an awesome job! Just wow.

Thank you so much for sharing everything. It’s been a little overwhelming, and I’ve barely scratched the surface, but I’ve already learned new skills, which will improve the services I provide. I share your love of knowledge and personal development, so receiving your materials made me feel like a kid in a candy store. 🙂 I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate your efforts and your willingness to share your work. This is really wonderful stuff.

Throughout my time working with Ms. Sanders she has demonstrated considerable knowledge of how best to work with parents, children, and families. Together we have shared difficult cases that required the navigation of policies and procedures that were nothing short of unusual. Ms. Sanders acted professionally and demonstrated her ability to advocate for best interests while acting quickly and ensuring child safety. Ms. Sanders effectively manage both high stress and high conflict cases with respect, empathy, and assertion.

Ms. Sanders builds strong relationships with children and families. She takes the time to understand and learn about individual and collective experiences as to not apply a “cookie cutter” outlook to working with cases that come her way. Her considerable knowledge of culturally diverse populations and parenting education has allowed her to further these relationships and assist the families and children that she works with.

Working not only independently but also teaming with the courts, the department and the families she touches shows her ability to navigate these difficult dynamics. Her passion for helping children and families remains clear.
