The definition of “parent” as a protector or guardian, to be or act as a parent of: to parent children with both love and discipline and a person who brings up and cares for another. A parenting style is a psychological construct representing standard strategies that parents use in their child rearing. This chapter will focus on the four common parenting styles used in parenting.
We will review the following:
1. Identify the parenting style currently used with a questionnaire.
2. Identify and discuss the 4 common parenting styles
3. Understand the parenting style impacts on child development.
